Client Profile
Two first-time visitors to China, based in Europe.
Interested in culture, food, and everyday local life rather than classic “checklist sightseeing.”
The Idea
For their first visit to China, the couple didn’t want to rush.
They wanted to understand the country — how people live, eat, move, and slow down.
Instead of covering many cities, we designed a gentle route connecting Shanghai and Hangzhou, focusing on contrast: modern rhythm and traditional calm.
The Journey
Their days in Shanghai unfolded quietly — morning walks through former French Concession streets, a private visit to a local design studio, and dinners that ranged from refined Shanghainese cuisine to late-night neighborhood noodles.
In Hangzhou, the pace softened even more. Afternoons were spent cycling along West Lake, sipping tea with a local tea master, and wandering small alleys where daily life continues unchanged.
Why It Worked
Nothing felt rushed.
Nothing felt staged.
The journey allowed space — to observe, to taste, to pause.
By the end, China no longer felt distant or overwhelming. It felt familiar.
